Robotics: Is the study of robots (NASA).
Robots: are machines that can be use to do different jobs. Some robots can do work by itself., other robots must have a person telling them what to do. (NASA)
To the Robot Institute of America, a robot is a reprogrammable, multifunctional, manipulator, design to move materials, parts, tools or specialized devices through different motions.
¿What are the components of a robot?
- Sensors: Allows a robot to gather information about its environment, that controls the behaviour.
* Cameras: help the robot contruct a visual representation of a visual representation of its environment. This camera help the robot judge attributes of the environment.
* Microphones and buttons: Allows the robot to detect sound. Buttons are embedded bumpers to determine the collides with an object or a wall
*Thermometers and barometers: are equipped to sense temperature and pressure
* LIDAR (Light detection and ranging): are sensor that use lasers to construct 3D maps of their surroundings
*Accelerator and magnometers: are equipped to sense the movement in respect to the earth's gravity and magnetic field
- .Effectors: Are the parts of the robots that actually do the job.
*End effectors: are tools used at the end of robotic arms or legs. Some examples of these are spikes, lights, hammer and screw-drivers.
*Motors: can be used for many of the moving parts of a robot, some of these are: wheels, flaps and propellers
*Speaker: they are used to allow robots to produce sound.
- Control Systems (The brain): is the brain of the robot or what controls the robots
*Pre-Programmed: robots that are pre programmed to repeat the same operation over and over again. They have very limited information about the environment
* Autonomous: Are sensory parts that allow the robot to detect the environment, and change their behaviour from the conditions of the environment.
